Title is too clumsy and confusing, but the premise is a ripper.
Dude wakes up in hospital, amnesia. You can do anything with this part.
He has ID, the police find he has no immediate family, and the closest relative is a cousin in Ohio (or wherever) who he hasn’t seen since childhood. The cousin is contacted but is not interested (they could turn up later if the story needs it).
But all is OK, because he has a special health insurance for tech bros, and that policy notes that he has their home-based AI assistant (yes, very HAL). Conveniently his phone is missing because presumably it has useful info on it and the AI app.
He is sent home in a cab and greeted at the front door by HAL (change name of AI!)
That’s the setup, do want you want with the rest. But basically, the AI is devious, it is well-connected world-wide, and it lies to the man about who and what he is. It conjures up images and video that are “proof” of things. He becomes the useful idiot.
