Cruise ships disgust me, intrigue me and excite me. They are horrible, polluting and full of dull people and illness. But you put the least effort into travelling, and that is so different to most travelling I have done with all the airports, planes, trains, taxis, checkins and and checkouts.
So if the price is right, I am in.
Virgin are offering an annual pass for $186K AUD per year. It sounds a lot but that is for 2 people, and some of their cruises are special. And you can change who your plus one is, if you are a serial dater.
It works out to $255/day per person. For permanent cruising. Obviously ports and dates won’t necessarily line up. But if you stay on the same boat you’ll be skibidi.
They do the Caribbean, North America, Europe and Trans-Atlantic.
A UK cruise to Iceland and back sells for $1000/night, ordinarily, so you can argue that the pass is great value.
The deal includes all meals (Virgin doesn’t have any pay extra restaurants), and laundry. I presume they change your sheets sometimes. Drinks not included, so some sneakiness is required. Free WiFi.
I think, Lotto-gods willing, I will do the on year, do every cruise, write a book, and gloriously hammered with the least effort, while flirting excessively.
