I tend not to be a “fan”, but Bowie is my major exception. I am an idiot for him.
Even the greatest of artists (Bowie, Prince, Dylan, Stones) run out of steam. Bowie still managed to make some great songs post-Let’s Dance, 15 years into an extraordinary career.
