My Dreams & The Container People

For those of you who follow my rambling thoughts across a dozen different online venues, you will know that my dreaming is evolving, and I am loving it.

I pay a lot of close attention to my dreams, and try to recall them when I wake up. I also theorise on how dreams work. I do not do anything else (like waking myself with an alarm and taking notes).

I cannot tell you how many years, I’ll guess ten – it could be half or double that. But I began having flying dreams. The thing is, my flying ability in my dreams has progressed organically over many years, For the first few years I would run and leap and fall flat on my face. Then I had my Greatest American Hero phase where I flew but crashed a lot. Then complete competence at a low altitude. And lately I can pretty much do anything, in terms of flight, even go up into the stratosphere.

Parallel with that progress was a progression from nobody ever noticing I was flying, to now everybody noticing, including people/beings/machines out to get me. My dreams are now exciting rather than frustrating.

The other huge shift is that I have become self-aware of being inside a dream. I know I control the narrative, while I am dreaming. So it has become way more interesting and revealing.

Last night I dreamt that I was coming up with a story idea and sharing it with a friend. And we debated whether it had enough internal logic to work as a story.

At the first rain after the spring equinox, the container people would grab a container (think Tupperware or a sand bucket) and stand in the rain until it was full. If it did become full then some kind of magic would be activated and you could put anything in that container and it would then be yours. We debated whether it was just food/drink or instead anything.

I collaborated on fiction within a dream and recalled it when I awoke. I feel that I am not far off from where musicians say a tune came to them in a dream, or the DNA discover saw in in an acid trip.

Fun times ahead, stay tuned!
