Pitchfork has started to end, with staff being fired and a focus on more profits.
If done right, a crowd-sourced album review site can work.
- Ad-supported
- Profit-sharing
- Long-form reviews and a voting system – both
- Users verified by phone
- Reviews must be at least 100 words (or whatever) and you pay $1 to post them
- Only after 5 reviews and 1 month have passed will any of your reviews appear
- Your average after 5 reviews can never be below 3 or above 9 (out of 10)
- AI aggregates/summarises if there are many reviews, for anyone wanting a quick overview
- People with the most helpful votes, qualify to maybe get paid, and maybe get paid to review pre-releases.
