Sparks – Band – Live – Melbourne

While trying to find a video that explains why I am keen to see Sparks – the brothers who are now 75 and 78 – play live next week, I struggled.

The recent doco says it all, but I don’t expect anyone to watch a doco to invalidate their opinion of my excursion.

They were briefly big in the early 70s with songs like Amateur Hour (video), while being Americans in exile like Hendrix, and in-between times had their moments, like When Do I Get To Sing My Way (video) which cleverly name checks Sid Vicious, but recently they have improved, weirdly, after 25 albums and being elderly, with their last 3 albums going Top 10 in the UK. Here’s a single called Left Out In The Cold (video)

This recent live performance of their first hit suggests what I should expect, but with lighting and costumes and naked gymnasts or whatever.
