A massive solar flare causes almost every man on Earth to become infertile. That is, except for the few people who were deep underground (like miners) and in bunkers at that very moment.
The flare took out some electricity systems but was mostly seen as harmless until days and weeks later fertility clinics noticed a disturbing number of infertile men – everyone that was tested.
The idea is to have stories about some of the few remaining fertile men and the problems they face:
- Governments tracking down anyone who was underground during the flare
- Forced, massed fertility tests
- Men seeking to sell their sperm to the very highest bidders
- Fertility internment camps where the fertile men have no rights
- Radicals who realise they can save the planet from humans by killing those few men
- Rich women who try to steal/enslave the men privately
- Geneticists worried about in-breeding
- And the odd idea that one person could have thousands of kids
